DSC_2036How the Program Works in South India:
Canadians Sharing Locally and Globally works with a registered Indian Charity in the Vellore District of South India, Tamil Nadu State to contribute medicine, medical supplies, and medical assistive devices to those with special needs in rural and under-served communities in southern India. With the help of our charitable partner The Sri Sakthi Amma Health Care Trust we provide much needed assistive medical devices to differently abled persons. The Sri Sakthi Amma Health Care Trust is the charitable organization that supports the 500 bed Sri Narayani Hospital and Research Center DSC_2116which provides free medical services to the local community. We provide adaptive medical devices to support existing programs at The Sri Narayani Hospital and Research Center that address the health needs of differently abled persons locally. The Sri Sakthi Amma Health Care Trust identifies potential recipients and medical devices to Canadians Sharing and offers the program logistics. We review the applications, choose the recipients based on need, select and purchase the supportive equipment identified as a priority by The Trust. We buy directly from the manufacturer or supplier and have the item shipped directly to to The Sri Narayani Hospital with the warranty. The Hospital provides the equipment or training so that each individual can receive the most benefit from our program and achieve the best health care outcomes. Our programs support the differently abled who are ill, suffer impairments such as poor cognition, hearing or sight, or have other special needs for wheelchairs, special tricycles, crutches, hearing aids, and eye glasses.
